General technical requirements for X60 pipeline steel


Modern X60 pipeline steel belongs to low carbon or ultra low carbon microalloying steel, which X60 pipeline steel with high technology content and high added value. At present, the development trend of X60 pipeline steel and pipeline engineering is large pipe diameter, high-pressure gas-rich transportation, service environment of high cooling and corrosion, and thick wall of submarine X60 pipeline steel.

Therefore, the performance requirements of X60 pipeline steel at present mainly include the following aspects:
(1) high strength. The strength indexes of X60 pipeline steel mainly include tensile strength and yield strength. At the same time, the high strength is required, and the bending strength ratio (the ratio of yield strength to tensile strength) of X60 pipeline steel is also required, which is generally within the range of 0.85 ~ 0.93. 

(2) high impact toughness. X60 pipeline steel material should have high enough impact toughness (cracking initiation, crack stop toughness). For the parent material, when the toughness value of the X60 pipeline steel material meets the requirement of crack check, X60 pipeline steel toughness can also meet the requirement of preventing from cracking. 

(3) low toughness and brittle transition temperature. Severe regional and climatic conditions require that the ductile and brittle transition temperature of X60 pipeline steel should be low enough. The shear area of state D has become the main control index to prevent X60 pipeline steel brittle failure. The general specification requires that the fracture shear area of sample F is not less than 85% at the lowest operating temperature. 

(4) excellent properties of hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) and sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC).
